Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive neurostimulation technique used to modulate brain activity. TMS is a recently developed brain stimulation method for the treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders. It involves the stimulation of specific deep brain regions by the production of high and low-intensity magnetic fields which modulates the cortical excitability. Current evidence points toward its role in causing long-term inhibition and excitation of neurons in certain brain areas. TMS has approval from the U.S. (FDA) to treat conditions such as:
- Major depressive disorder (MDD) (including treatment-resistant depression)
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
- Migraines.
- Smoking cessation
- Alzheimer’s Disease
- Severe Anxiety
