Fire Cupping

Fire cupping is an outstanding therapy that has been a part of Chinese medicine for at least 3,000 years, and it’s becoming more common and familiar to Australian’s. Although it may look a little daunting, fire cupping feels great and is a great way to improve blood flow and loosen muscles.

The fire never comes in contact with the skin, and builds heat and negative pressure to relax connective tissue and create a soothing, sedating effect on the nervous system. It also helps to draw out dead or stagnant blood cells, cellular debris, lymph fluid, and toxins out of the deeper tissues and up toward the surface, allowing for easier release from the body and improving overall blood circulation to the area.

Pressure Cupping

Much like fire cupping, pressure cupping works by creating a vacuum in glass or plastic cups and creating a suction effect on the skin and muscles. These cups can be left stationary on the body or can be moved over the skin’s surface.

Pressure Cupping feels a lot like a strong deep tissue massage, and despite the temporary marks it leaves on the skin, is completely painless. The suction can penetrate up to four inches deep, that’s why cupping is one of the most popular ways to relax and refresh those tired muscles and aching bodies.

Acu-Laser Cupping

Acu-laser cupping provides the benefits of laser acupuncture combined with cupping. Laser therapy or laser acupuncture is a 100% painless 100% non-invasive therapy that involves low-intensity laser light to reduce inflammation, promote tissue regeneration and reduce pain in affects areas.

In conjunction with this low intensity laser light, the cupping system works by creating a vacuum and creating a suction effect on the skin and muscles. These cups are left on the body and provide great benefits for circulation and pain relief.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin hair like needles into specific areas of the body. These areas of the body can be conventional acupuncture points, muscular trigger and motor points, and into specific superficial nerve zones on the body that are called dermatomes.

Once the needle enters the skin, it can stimulate the local nerve endings and/or muscle fibres in this region, stimulating a healing response. Acupuncture has been shown to increase blood supply, balance stress hormones, moderate local inflammatory pathways, release contracted muscles and stimulate parts of the brain that influence other areas of the body.

Muscle tension and chronic pain are the perfect candidates for remedial massage. We assess where you need treatment most and what may be causing your discomfort. We test to see exactly which muscles are giving you trouble and tailor a treatment plan to suit, often involving deep tissue work for short periods of time.

Conditions such as sciatica, carpal tunnel, stiff necks, headaches, sports injuries and many more complaints can be eased with remedial treatment by one of our qualified physiotherapists.

Shockwave Therapy

This treatment uses acoustic waves with high energy peak interact with tissue causing overall medical effects of accelerated tissue repair and cell growth, analgesia and mobility restoration. All the processes mentioned are typically employed simultaneously and are used to treat chronic, sub-acute and acute conditions.

Shockwave therapy is a multidisciplinary device that provides fast pain relief and mobility restoration. Together with being a non-surgical therapy with no need for painkillers makes it an ideal therapy to speed up recovery and cure various indications causing acute or chronic pain.

Dry Needling

This treatment is used to relieve tightness and pain in muscles and promote healing. Through inserting a needle directly into a knot or pressure point, dry needling can often release tension in the surrounding muscle. Used in accompaniment with a physiotherapy treatment, it involves the insertion of a needle into soft tissues with the aim of decreasing myofascial tension and improving musculoskeletal function.

Dry needling is incredibly helpful when treating a large area of muscle tension.  In addition, patients who are sensitive to touch, when in acute pain, often find dry needling extremely effective as their tightness can be released with minimal hands-on therapy.

Coping-with-Lymphoedema-0.jpg

Lymphoedema treatment

Our lymphatic massage is performed by a highly trained physiotherapist and involves applying light pressure to the skin around the swollen area, helping stimulate the lymph vessels and improve the flow of lymph fluid. The technique used during manual lymphatic drainage or MLD will be different for each person depending on the location of the swelling and stage of lymphoedema.

Our practitioners can teach you a simplified form of MLD, which you may be advised to do daily that will aid in treating and managing the condition.

Reiki

Our Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a "universal energy" is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.

Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
